A programmers' cooperative is a formal organization that combines aspects of both cooperatives and users' groups. In a programmers' cooperative, both skilled and novice programmers cooperate on the creation, debugging, distribution (both in shrink-wrap and digital distribution forms), documentation and servicing of software and software installations. In return, all members receive a share of the revenue, either on an equal basis or on an individual-contribution-proportional basis, and all members have an equal command by democratic vote on policy and organization.
