Surf punk is a sub-genre of punk rock that fuses surf rock and punk, respectively. Guitars and bass guitars with added reverb are blended with sometimes distorted, minimalist, and aggressive styles of music. An example of an artist of the genre is Agent Orange, who even covered the surf classic "Pipeline". Another pioneer of surf punk are the Surf punks whose songs are based on, or events that happen at, the beach and surfing in general.
Surf rock influence is prevalent in many contemporary pop punk (WP) acts, which led to the fusion genre of surf punk.
