Umair Hussain was found not guilty of all charges in connection to the alleged 2006 transatlantic aircraft plot[1] in the United Kingdom in the first trial.

He and his brothers Nabeel Hussain and Mehran Hussain were arrested without charge and charged two weeks later. He and Mehran Hussain were eventually charged on the basis of charges against Nabeel Hussain (circular argument (WP)), of which Nabeel was eventually found not guilty (which is why one does not use circular arguments).

The charges for the second case against Nabeel, (which is a too close to double jeopardy (WP) in any case), sound like the Constable Savage (racist cop) sketch from Not the nine O'clock News:[2] he was charged with "preparing for terrorism by meeting Ali twice in July 2006",[3] and of "possessing several items namely a will, mobile phones and a £25,000 loan application for use in terrorism". With the prosecution given the power of a laws that make it a crime to associate with others or possess a cell phone, it is hardly surprising that he was found guilty and given eight years.[4]

Charges[edit]

On diverse days between the 23 September 2005 and 10 August 2006 within the jurisdiction of the Central Criminal Court <Old Bailey> had information which he knew or believed might be of material assistance in preventing the commission of another person namely, Nabeel Hussain, of an act of terrorism and failed to disclose it as soon as reasonably practicable (contrary to Section 38B (1) (a) and (2) of the Terrorism Act 2000 (WP)).
