Joseph Stalin

Joseph Stalin or Josef Stalin (real name: Ioseb Besarionis dze Jughashvili) (18 December 1878 - 5 March 1953) was the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1922 to 1953. He was born in Georgia but identified more with Russian nationality during his political career. He is known for industrializing the Soviet Union in the 1930s, and defeated Nazi Germany on the Eastern Front during World War II. He is also known for murdering millions of people in the Great Purge. He presided over the Soviet Union in the beginning of the Cold War.
