A violin is a four stringed musical instrument. The strings are tuned in G, D, A, and E.(G being the lowest string) Sound can be produced by either dragging a bow across the strings, (called "bowing") or by plucking the strings with the fingers (called "pizzicato"). It is played in many types of music, including classical folk, and country (although in the context of country music it is often referred to as a "fiddle.") It is also an essential part of almost any orchestra or string quartet.
