  1. The amount of land used to grow plants would be far less than the land used to maintain animals, in view of:
    1. The inefficiency of having to maintain both animals and the plants to feed them, instead of just plants
    2. The fact that one person's share of meat must be maintained by enough grain to feed five people directly (see the argument on food shortages)
