professional dominant
A professional dominant or professional dominatrix is a person who performs the dominant role in BDSM activities in exchange for money. Most professional dominants do not have sex in exchange for money, and do not regard themselves as prostitutes.
A female dominant is known as a dominatrix (plural dominatrices), and the term is often used as a synonym for a female professional dominant. A pro domme is another term used for a female professional dominant.
Depictions of professional dominants[edit]
The fictional film Maîtresse, starring Gérard Depardieu and Bulle Ogier, depicted a professional dominatrix.
The character Severin plays a professional dominatrix in the film Shortbus.
Nick Broomfield's documentary Fetishes depicted the activities of a number of professional dominatrices at Pandora's Box, a professional domination house in New York.
Kristin Dodge's screenplay Mistress, which is currently under option negotiations, depicts a Minnesotan dominatrix paired with a Lutheran pastor-in-training.
