pencil fighting

Pencil fighting is a two-player children's game popular with elementary and middle school students. To play the game, each player needs a pencil. On each turn, one player holds his pencil by the ends, horizontally, and the other player swings his pencil down in an attempt to break it. Then the players switch, and so on until one of the pencils is broken. The player with the unbroken pencil wins. Variations center around the way the person attempting to break the pencil is allowed to hold the pencil and what movements are allowed.

Some schools have specific rules banning pencil fighting.[1]
