A paralegislature, irregular legislature, or, in the Westminster system, paraparliament or irregular parliament is a legislature that is organized similarly to a standard, officially-recognized legislature or parliament but is not regarded as having the same status or force of law within the jurisdiction or purpose in which it is most active.
