Liquid is a state of matter. It is defined as a substance that has a definite volume at a given temperature, but has no definite shape. The molecules of a substance in a liquid state are free to move about between each other, but don't posses enough energy to break the bonds between them and separate from the other molecules. If a liquid is cooled to its freezing point, it will freeze and become a solid. If a it is heated to its melting point, it will boil and become a gas.
