Leather is the hide of an animal(commonly a cow, horse, or sheep) that has been taken off the animal, stripped of its hair and tanned. This process allows it to be used in a number of applications, including shoes, clothing, and bags. In these applications, leather has a great advantage over cloth, which is alternatively used, becasue is is stronger, heavier, and waterproof.
