intensive feedlots require land

Arguments

1. While it is true that feedlots do not 'in themselves' take up enormous amounts of room, this is misleading, as they are essentially nutrient sinks, which require enormous amounts of land elsewhere, to grow the feed that enables intensive animal growing to occur.
2. The overall use of land is not in any way lessened through intensive animal growing techniques (feedlots), and if anything, energy efficiency and land use is worse, since harvestable crops must be grown on arable land, in order to be used as food for the animals. This compares to the 'wide acre' practice of animals grazing, where at least the animals themselves do the 'cropping'
