John Yates is an English graphic designer, and from 1990 to 1999 was the owner of Allied Records (now defunct). Yates is most well-known for the numerous album covers he has done for bands such as Melvins, Antischism, The Promise Ring, Dead Kennedys, Jawbreaker, Crass, and NoMeansNo, among many others. In addition, Yates worked at Alternative Tentacles Records for 10 years, and now does graphic design for AK Press and G7 Welcoming Committee Records, as well as running his own graphic design company, Stealworks.
