Great Conjob

References to Ronald Reagan as the Great Communicator, when he was quite obviously a stumbling blowhard.

There is almost always some speck of truth behind the lies; in this case, it was true that Reagan was an adequate speechwriter, albeit on one subject, and extremely slow. It took him decades to perfect his spiel about smaller government (which he then betrayed once HE WAS the government), while working as a glorified salesman, but the final result was a speech that wowed the Republican Party conference and swept him into power.

Grenada

By a vote of 108 in favor to 9 (Wikipedia:Antigua and Barbuda, Wikipedia:Barbados, Wikipedia:Dominica, Wikipedia:El Salvador, Wikipedia:Israel, Wikipedia:Jamaica, Wikipedia:Saint Lucia, Wikipedia:Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, and the United States voting against) with 27 abstentions, the Wikipedia:United Nations General Assembly adopted Wikipedia:General Assembly Resolution 38/7 which "deeply deplores the armed intervention in Grenada, which constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and of the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of that State".[1]

When asked if he was concerned by the lopsided 108-9 vote in the Wikipedia:UN General Assembly, then-president Ronald Reagan showed once again how fawning and inappropriate his nickname as the Great Communicator was, with the characteristically awkward and unimaginative non-sequitur "it didn't upset my breakfast at all" [2]
