Template:NODEL Brian Keats (February 11, 1963 – January 12, 2010), known by his stage name Brian Damage, was an American punk rock drummer mostly known for his participation in the horror punk band Misfits.

Career[edit]

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Brian Damage played for Genocide and Verbal Abuse during his early musical career.[1] In 1983, he was invited to join Misfits by the band's frontman Glenn Danzig. Damage was the latest in a long line of drummers that played for Misfits.[1] The drummer's first performance, that took place in the Halloween gig of 1983,[2] turned out to be the band's last show.[1] Damage was thrown off the stage by the band's guitarist, Doyle, allegedly for being too drunk to keep up.[1] Todd Swalla of the local band Necros filled the drummer spot for the rest of the show.

After his short period with Misfits, the drummer played for a number of New York City bands including Metal Blade recording artists Princess Pang . He then moved to Los Angeles and played or recorded with Wink, Low Pop Suicide, Sylvain Sylvain, Susanna Hoffs, and The Fuzztones, among others.[1] He also did live performances with African Violet, Jason Falkner, Woozy, and Dave Vanian and the Phantom Chords; and recorded sessions demos with Bijou Phillips, Swirl 360 (with Roger Manning), TallulahTemplate:dn, Kim Richey, Marie WilsonTemplate:dn, Billy Idol, Tom Anderson, Leah Andreone, and Colony.[1]

Brian died from complications of colon cancer on January 12, 2010.[2][3]
