WP is systemically unable to deal with a subject such as this, because of Assume Good Faith. AGF, in turn, comes from the culture that WP represents most closely. Think of Cond. Rice vs, believe it was Nancy Pelosi; Rice got Pelosi apologizing for inferring that Rice had lied, when everyone else pretty much defined Rice as a liar, that was her position at the White Ho. Calling someone a liar just is not possible for these people, and there comes a point where I have to declare failure in fully understanding it. It is the most blatant exception, but by no means the only one, to the promise of the US being the 'Land of the Free', where Freedom of Speech is the norm. Quite the contrary.
