Essay:Unions in the cooperative
As unions press for the rights and support of workers in the workplace and cooperatives press for the democratic governance over business matters by workers (and consumers), it would make sense that unions should constitute a role in a cooperative as a lobbying force for a variety of concerns or as a governing force to direct the cooperative by consensus. This allows for an infusion of syndical direction in a democratic setting.
However, while unions(+consumer advocacy orgs+user groups) and cooperatives(+cooperative federations) can come together as part of an economic ecosystem, there isn't a particular bonding agent that makes both entities part-and-parcel of each other (in the same way that a democratically-elected government associates with political parties). Finding that bonding agent may be key to realizing the further institution of industrial human rights and liberties, which have not been sufficiently delineated from political rights and liberties.
