Hermann Kesten (died 1996 May 3 at age 96) was a German-US author (The Children of Guernica).

He fled Nazi Germany in 1933 and never returned. In the US — with Thomas Mann — he became active in the "Emergency Rescue Committee" for German-speaking writers, many owing their escape from Europe to his untiring efforts. The collection titled German Literature in Exile (ed. by H. Kesten) attests to his efforts. [Source: Robert Braunwart]
