Activelink on Freenet is an image that simbolises the existance of the freesite. This image is normally bound together with the site to speed up the load time when the link is followed.

Convention[edit]

The convention for the activelinks is 95x32 pixels on Freenet 0,5 and 108x36 pixels on Freenet 0,7. On 0,5 network it is also frowned upon to place the activelink within the archive container of the site, thus forcing others to download the whole site, rather than just metadata, when viewing the activeling. Freenet 0,7 doesn't allow control over the containers, thus activelinks prefetch the whole site.
