Infomunicipalism is advocacy of the creation of freely-accessible networks of communication and communication-oriented technology between, and supported by, free, directly-democratic municipalities. This could be contrasted against "infostatism", where states get to determine, support or reject such networks.
Municipal wi-fi can reside within this particular ideological concern.
