Hans Bakker was a free software hacker who died in a car crash on his way back from Paris to Amsterdam, on September 30, 2004 after dropping Richard Stallman off in Paris.
His passing was noted on Slashdot, where a poster commented on why Hans' passing affected everyone in the free software world.
