The Coffee Party Progressives is a netroots grassroots network of progressives, social liberals, and citizen activists who are concerned and act on progressive issues.[1] It drew its inspiration from other grassroots groups forming as a voice for progressives, and those who were tired of the right-wing rhetoric in the United States. [2]
According to a blog by Ben Smith, the Coffee Party Progressives was an offshoot created by a progressive Tennessee-based activist after a schism arose between some left-leaning activists and the founders of the centrist, non-partisan Coffee Party USA, a 501(c)(4) social benefit organization.[3]
The organization's Facebook pages include the Southeast Coffee Party Progressives [4], The Midwest Coffee Party Progressives [5], The Pacific Coast COffee Party Progressives [6] and the Northeast Coffee Party Progressives [7].
