To make anonymous. A connection is lightly anonymized if one or both endpoints are unaware of the other's identity.

This is typically done by passing traffic through one or more intermediate points, with protocol handling both the hiding and the relationship-tracking temporarily.

If the intermediate points are trusted and discarding the relationship information, or if the relationship information is irretrievable by the intermediate point, a connection is strongly anonymized.
