Unter Null (German for 'Under Zero') is an Wikipedia:Experimental Wikipedia:Electro-industrial music project formed in 1998 by the then 17 year old Erica Dunham, in Wikipedia:Seattle, USA (WP).[1][2][3] Template:As of, they are based in Wikipedia:Portland, Oregon. [4]

Overview[edit]

Founder Erica Dunham has a history of musical education with training in the Classical Piano, Wikipedia:Cello and Wikipedia:Guitar;[5] however, she describes her primary trade as being a Wikipedia:chef on her online food store 'Unterbites' which she runs alone .[6]

Unter Null was founded initially as a Wikipedia:powernoise project influenced by a number of similar prominent artists, including Wikipedia:Noisex, Wikipedia:Converter and Wikipedia:P.A.L.

Their first, self-titled, album was released in 2000. In 2002, they were picked up by Leech and NTT/Annihilvs Records, and released their second, web-exclusive album Neocide.[7]

Three years later, in 2005, they signed with Wikipedia:Alfa Matrix. Since then, they have since released a large number of EPs and albums, as well as appearing on compilation albums with other artists. Unter Null have also performed multiple live shows around the world, with a short US and European tour in 2005 and a lengthy European Tour in 2006.

In early 2008, Dunham launched her side project Stray [8] with the release of the self-titled a 2CD album in cooperation with a number other bands including Mothboy, Detritus and Testube.

On December 25 2008, Erica's Wikipedia:studio, containing her musical, recording and electronic equipment as well as other belongings, were destroyed in a fire. It was feared at first that her newest album, Moving On,[9] had been lost in the fire, although it was later found that they were recoverable from the damaged Wikipedia:hard drive.[10]
