Sharing is Giving
Sharing is Giving is an alternative directory of free recycling and exchange sites.
Background[edit]
Sharing Is Giving was started on February 10, 2005 by Pastor Ken, better known as PK, as a way to continue with his online recycling movement.
Sharing is Giving has grown into an international organization since the start of this movement. Starting in New York, SiG lists can now be found throughout the USA, with a few lists also in Canada and Australia. SiG is hoping to have a local list in every major city throughout the world within the next few years. Those who wish to list with SiG or have help in starting a SiG list are welcome to contact SiG for help in this matter.
Guidelines[edit]
Sharing is Giving (SiG) lists are meant to be local freecycling lists where members can give and receive items from other members for free. Yahoo lists are the most common method used for SiG lists. Members use the list serves to connect with other members in order to make a free exchange of items they no longer want to someone who has a need for that same item. SiG lists are run by local moderators. Each list owner must follow three simple rules:
1. Keep it free
2. Keep it appropriate for all ages
3. Keep it legal
Local moderators, with the help of their members, can decide on what will be allowed or not allowed on their local list. Some lists may allow coupons, pets and non tangible items. Other lists may not allow all of these same things. It is up to the local list to decide what is needed in their area. SiG also lists other affiliated lists such as Freesharing.org who meet the same standards as SiG has set for its own lists.
