Setlist TV[1] is a cable television music performance program. Setlist airs weekly on Staten Island Community Television (CTV)[2] on both Time Warner Cable and Verizon Fios in the New York City area.

Creation & Inception[edit]

Setlist TV is the creation of Staten Island residents Tom Tobin and Kenny Graham. The two have produced programming together for over 10 years and launched Setlist TV in 2010. Tom books the talent for each program and handles audio, editing and web content while Kenny books additional crew members and directs each studio shoot. Since Setlist TV began the duo has produced 4 stand alone special programs and will be wrapping up their first steady season in March 2011.

About The Producers[edit]

Tom Tobin has spent over a decade doing music related photo, video & production work.
In addition to Setlist TV Tom has produced & edited a 5 part fan interaction promotional video for former Smashing Pumpkins & Hole bassist turned solo artist Melissa auf der Maur[3][4][5][6][7] as well as shot photography of auf der Maur.
Tom has had his photographs used by Spin magazine[8] & The Village Voice[9][10][11]
Photographs he has shot of Boyd Rice have been featured on both Boyd's site[12] as well as the Heartworm Press discography page (Heartworm 36).[13]

Kenny Graham has worked producing television, video & photography for quite a long time. He is the studio production manager of CTV Studios[14] and is a highly acclaimed freelance photo & video worker.[15] He is also the co-founder of Staten Island's first social networking site, "My Staten Island Life".[16]

Impact, Purpose & Mission[edit]

Setlist TV is a cable television program that operates completely under the DIY asthetic. Bands perform on the show for free. Studio time is provided for free. Crew members volunteer. Food for the performers & crew is either cooked & brought or donated by local establishments. Setlist TV receives thousands of views online[17] in addition to the weekly television views. Setlist TV brings performances of bands to viewers who may not be able to see them live in concert. It also helps spread the word of bands to viewers who may not have even heard them before.

Production & Broadcast[edit]

Setlist TV is filmed on the first Thursday of each month at CTV Studio A located on Staten Island, NY.
The 4 studio cameras are cut and recorded live to Mini-DV tape. A 5th camera (stand alone) is edited into the mix during post production. Post production editing and graphics are done using Final Cut Pro.
Each series program is 29 minutes in length. The stand alone programs alternate between 29 and 59 minutes in length. On occasion the web episodes are longer than the television broadcast episodes and contain unseen songs and footage.
The series programs air on CTV channel 34 on every Wed night at 11pm. Stand alone programs air at various times.[18]
