Salah Ali is a citizen of Wikipedia:Yemen apprehended through the Wikipedia:United States' secret Wikipedia:extraordinary rendition program, who was held in Wikipedia:extrajudicial detention in the Wikipedia:CIA's network of secret interrogation centers.[1][2] Salah 'Ali Qari was taken into custody on August 19, 2003, and repatriated to Yemeni custody in May 2005 at the same time as two other Yemenis, Wikipedia:Mohammed Asad and Wikipedia:Muhammad Bashmilah. Yemeni authorities continued to hold him until March 27, 2006.[3][4][5]

Wikipedia:Amnesty International reports authorities told him he was not allowed to leave the city of Wikipedia:Aden without permission, and that he had to report monthly to officials.[2]

Salah 'Ali Qari was living with his Wikipedia:Indonesian wife in Wikipedia:Jakarta, Indonesia when he was taken into custody.[2]

The three describe being held in solitary confinement, isolated from all contact with the outside world, under conditions Amnesty International described as "sensory deprivation".[1]
