Queentastic is a group of Norwegian [[drag queen|drag artists, established in the early 2005.

Background[edit]
Members Dean Erik Andersen, born in 1971 in Kristiansand, and Geir Lillejord, born in Skien in 1968, both have previous drag experience from their membership in Great Garlic Girls - another Norwegian drag act (two members of which backed Ketil Stokkan's Eurovision Song Contest 1986 entry as dancers. In fact, Dean had previously substituted for Geir (a founder of the group), which marked the beginning of their association. The duo competed as one of 18 acts in the Norwegian selections for this year's Eurovision Song Contest, the Melodi Grand Prix 2006. They had previously presented their weekly show Sex, Drag & Rock 'n' Roll together at the current premium queer nightclub in Norway - the Oslo-based Naken [1] - in company with a third drag queen and designer Cårejånni Enderud. Enderud also designed the duo's costumes for their Melodi Grand Prix performances. The show also toured to Kristiansand and Bergen. Geir has also performed as part of the Ruth & Vigdis duo along with Enderud.
Melodi Grand Prix[edit]
Queentastic's Melodi Grand Prix entry was the Alcazar-inspired disco song Absolutely Fabulous, inspired by the British comedy series with the same name. (See Absolutely Fabulous.) The tune was written by Thomas G:son, who also wrote Carola's entry in the Swedish Melodifestivalen 2006, Invincible (which became Sweden's Eurovision Song Contest 2006 entry). The duo competed against Norwegian musicians such as Trine Rein and Christine Guldbrandsen in Grand Prix final, however did not prove successful in their attempt to represent Norway (that honour falling to Gulbrandsen).

Eurovision Song Contest[edit]
In 2004, After Dark participated in Melodifestivalen, the yearly Swedish song festival that selects the Swedish entry for the Eurovision Song Contest. Their song La dolce vita went straight from its qualifying heat to the final night, and there finished third. The single of the song became a major hit on Swedish radio, and were often played in Swedish day nurseries.[2]. Later that same year, in the autumn, they sat up a new drag show with the same name as the tune in Stockholm's main amusement park, the Gröna Lund.
In the fourth and final Melodifestivalen semifinal on 2007 February 24, After Dark performed the song (Åh) när ni tar saken i egna händer. The act was in the Top 5 after the first vote, but ended up in the 5th place after the second vote and did not proceed to the finals. This time, Christer Lindarw's former partner Lasse Flinckman did not participate. If the first part of the song name is spoken quickly (Åh när ni), it is pronounced "Onani" which is the Swedish word for masturbation. There are few parts of the lyrics that can be interpreted as relating to masturbation. For example, "Tina, hon matar sig lugn. Hon pillar på knappen på sin varmluftsugn, glöm vispar och slevar här finns dip till tusen, använd fingret det gör susen". Roughly translated: "Tina, she satisfies her hunger. She touches the button on her oven. Forget whip and ladle, there is plenty of sauce, use your finger every time". The names used in the lyrics; Martin, Tina, Ernst and Bosse are all names of Swedish TV celebrities which, according to the Swedish news source Aftonbladet, gave their consent. The song is however performed "elegantly, intelligently and with style" and can just as well be interpreted as being about home improvement.[3]
