In biology, procreation is the act by which organisms reproduce. A more detailed treatment of reproduction in general, or sexual reproduction in particular, are in those articles.

In some systems of ethics (WP), sexual intercourse (WP) with procreative intent is often treated differently from intercourse absent procreative intent (in other words, intercourse in which contraception (WP) is practiced). The Catholic Church (WP), for instance, states that intercourse without procreative intent (in which contraception is employed) is unnatural (see Humanae Vitae).

Individuals with explicit procreative intent are open to the gift of children, do not contracept and may employ means to increase the chance of conception, for instance, assuming a Wikipedia:missionary position for intercourse and a Wikipedia:lithotomy position post-intercourse. (The efficacy of these methods is not particularly well documented.) <Propaganda end>

In colloquial English, the slang term "babymaking" may apply to these practices.
