1894 -- In Paris, the "Procès des trente" (Trial of the Thirty), which began August 6, comes to a close.
1913 -- Historians Will & Ariel Durant, ages 27 & 15, are married at New York's City Hall.
1922 -- Italy: Benito Mussolini (Il Duce) becomes premier. Head office of the anarchist paper "Umanita Nova" is again ransacked by Duce's fascists.
1922 -- Karl Capek play "The World We Live In" (The Insect Comedy) opens in NY.
