The premise of the film is that humans live inside the large energy harvesting fields, while the minds are within the computer generated programme (the Matrix). The main character, Neo, is attempting to free everyone from the machines.
Inconsistancies in the film[edit]
- In the end of the first film Neo shuts the matrix down (causes a computer error within the Matrix) and announces that he is about to free all people, however, this fact is largely ignored by the subsequent two films.
