Jainism and Islam

From Anarchopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

Jainism and Islam came in close contact with each other following the Islamic invasions from Central Asia and Persia in the seventh to the twelfth centuries when much of north and central India came under the rule of the Delhi Sultanate, and later the Mughal dynasty. Some authors believe that the reformist (opposed to idol workship) sub-sects of Sthanakvasis among the Svetambara sect and of Taranpatha among the Digambara sect were inspired by Islamic influences.
