Chris Glaser graduated from Yale University with a M.Div. degree in 1977.

Service with Presbyterian Church[edit]
After leaving Yale, he served as Director of Lazarus Project, a ministry of reconciliation between the church and the lesbian and gay community in Los Angeles, funded by the Presbyterian Church (USA).
He served from 1976-1977 on the Presbyterian Church (USA) Task Force to Study Homosexuality, as an openly gay man, and the rejection of its gay tolerant conclusions by the Church meant that Glaser himself was refused ordination as clergy by the Presbyterian Church (USA) but serves as an elder.
Metropolitan Community Church Ministry[edit]
He began serving as MCC San Francisco Interim Pastor on November 1st,2006, having been ordained by this denomination. He previously served as Interim Pastor of Christ's Covenant Metropolitan Community Church in Decatur, Georgia.

Since 1998 he has edited Open Hands, a quarterly magazine for congregations welcoming of LGBT people in seven mainline Protestant denominations in the United States and Canada.
