There is a large distance, with indistinct borders, if you excuse those terms, between geographic countries and the states, created by self-substantiating belief, that operate in them.

This category may be currently underpopulated, and many Cat:Countries could be added to it.

Those geographic areas whose borders, and often to a lesser extent names, are in little dispute, such as Ireland (the island) are indisputably countries. Historical states no longer existing are indisputably covered by 'states'. The rest is a gray area. They should remain linked to each other, to cover mistakes, and make finding mistakes easier.
