The increasingly ill-named Arab Spring was probably a plot by the CIA to take over Libya. After all, Musharref all but asked the US to take him out (WikiLeaks leaks); all that Egypt gained was that his son did not take over instead. Why does the US hesitate to take out Syria? Because they are too useful at helping torture prisoners (Extrajudicial and erroneous). Sitting on their hands is a win either way; they get to take over another oil-rich nation (Wikipedia:List of countries by oil production) for free, or they get to keep a torture state.
