The Animal Protection Party (APP) was founded in England in 2008 to represent an Wikipedia:animal rights perspective.

2010 general election[edit]
The APP stood in four constituencies in the May 2010 British general election, chosen because the sitting MP was viewed by the APP as representing the interests of people or industries that use animals.
- Sarah Coats stood in Meon Valley, a new constitency where Wikipedia:Wickham Labs is based. Coats received 255 votes or 0.3 percent; the seat was taken by Wikipedia:George Hollingbery for the Conservatives.[1]
- Carrie Holliman stood in Huntingdon, where Wikipedia:Huntingdon Life Sciences is based, against Conservative MP Wikipedia:Jonathan Djanogly. She received 181 votes or 0.3 percent. Djanogly held the seat.[2]
- Jim Kapetanos stood in Vauxhall against Labour MP Wikipedia:Kate Hoey, chairperson of the Wikipedia:Countryside Alliance, which promotes hunting.[3] He received 96 votes or 0.2 percent. Hoey held the seat.[4]
- Wikipedia:Keith Mann stood in Oxford West and Abingdon against Liberal Democrat MP Wikipedia:Evan Harris; the area has been the focus of protests against the building of Oxford University's Biomedical Sciences Building.[5] Mann received 143 votes or 0.3 percent; Harris lost the seat to Wikipedia:Nicola Blackwood for the Conservative Party.[6]
