'Tipsy' is a London based soap opera available on the internet and in the Holles Magazine of Lady Eleanor Holles School created by writer and student Tom Lane.

It started in 2003, inspired by an ongoing joke between several students about how their lives were similar to the plotlines of a soap opera. However, it fell upon Tom Lane to write the show's first episode later that year. Often controversial, dealing with subjects such as homosexuality, mental illness and suicide, 'Tipsy' has managed to provoke reaction across Teddington.

The writer, Tom Lane, has become a local celebrity, often appearing at events in the borough of Richmond. In 2005, Tipsy won plaudits and the 'art and entertainment' award in the Richmond and Twickenham Times. In 2006, it overcame the challenge from two rival soaps, 'Rinsed' and 'Trolleyed', that were created off the back of its success.

Main Characters

Lano- a parody of the writer Tom Lane and a troubled wannabe rebel;

Katherine Guy- the seemingly perfect housewife and friend;

James Baker- an original character, a drunken socialite prone to passionate rages;

Ed Cornish (Midge) - loved and loathed in equal quantities, viewers have watched this character progress from an angstful teenager to a brash and confident young man;

Amy and James Ewers - long-standing couple whose relationship has been plagued by religious obstacles and clinical depression;

Hannah Cassan Seawright - Swedish by birth, an artistic vegetarian and long term girlfriend of Midge;

Andy Connellan - Initially a highly affable individual, his character later struggled with the possible development of Asperger syndrome and autism;

Jack Gibbon - Chubby misogynist with a love of money and 'poonage', who treats women as sexual objects;

Elli Hollington - the matriarch of Tipsy, an opinionated and sometimes patronising girl;

Richard McEneaney (Macca) - an outspoken beer-drinking geezer;

Ellie Roberts - fragile character who is the victim of Gibbon's ways;

Steven Lane - all-round nice guy and Midge's partner in emo crime;

Shams Namazie - a hyperactive conversationalist with a tendency for dramatic mood swings and outbursts;

Nick Jeary - a bitter and twisted youth with contempt for all things apart from indie music;

Vicky Ellis - a chirpy and jolly character, loved by her friends but a figure of fun elsewhere (in 2005, fans of the soap launched a 'kill off Vicky campaign');

Danielle Jones - an oddball and a name-dropper, who has nonetheless won over some fans with her musical credentials;

Emily Nurse - A layabout and a waster;

Jonny East - softly-spoken Tennis champion;

Tom Perry - member of the emo crew;

Tom Little - Tipsy's token sane and balanced fassy brer;

Ben Tannahill - herbal enthusiast whose purpose in life is to belittle other people, drink himself into a stupor and throw pies in his enemies' faces.

Nick Howe- part of a double act with Andy, left the show in 2004 to move to Norwich;

Christine Leung Cheung (deceased)- loud and bubbly chain smoker who met her death in the 2004 Season Finale when she was killed in a fire;

Laura Monaghan - attractive and flirtatious girl who was the cause of much heart-break at Hampton;

James Keyse - a messed-up religious zealot who lost the respect of most characters when he threatened a friend's girlfriend.
