The Socialist Youth League is an organization created in 1954 by bored teenagers who desired social interaction on the weekends. These teenagers, termed socialists for their desire to socialize, began the practice that came to be termed "hanging out." The practice of hanging out continued in various permutations to the present day. Members of the Socialist Youth League have been implicated in a number of alarming trends, including teen drug use, vandalism, disturbing the peace, drunken driving, reckless driving, and frequent promiscuous sex. Many parents have been alarmed by the propagation of hanging out. [1]
