Mahatma Gandhi: Pilgrim of Peace
CT

Mohandas K. Gandhi (also Mahatma Gandhi) was the leader of non-violent pacifist resistance of Indian people to the occupation by Great Britain. He has advocated non-cooperation, inspired by Leo Tolstoy's "The Kingdom of God is Within You", a tactic that later was adopted by the philosophy of Martin Luther King, Jr. Contrary to the popular opinion he did not promote passive resistance or apathy to oppression.

Religion[edit]

Mahatma Gandhi was a Hindu and believed his actions to be in service of God.
