This is a list of intergovernmental organizations with Wikipedia:continental scope and having the most wide and possibly non-overlapping membership - ordered by foundation date:

Organisations grouping almost all the countries in their respective continents. Note that Russia (WP) is member of both the Wikipedia:Council of Europe (COE) and the Wikipedia:Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD)

The concept of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue, the organization that governs matters in the area with the most countries missing from its lists, was raised in Manila (WP), the capital of the Philippines (WP), where a part of the US Operation Enduring Freedom (WP) is based, at the First International Conference of Asian Political Parties

  1. Belarus applied for CoE membership in 1993 and held a special guest status at CoE between 1992-1997, when its application was frozen and the special guest status revoked over elections classified as undemocratic by the CoE.
  2. Cuba membership in the OAS was suspended 1962-2009, but it has not ratified the OAS treaties signed during this time, which is a requirement for re-gaining membership.
  3. Morocco left the AU's predecessor (the OAU) in 1984, when OAU admitted the Sahrawi Republic

Of the states with limited recognition (located in Wikipedia:Europe, Wikipedia:Asia and Wikipedia:Africa) only the Sahrawi Republic is member of its respective continental organization, the Wikipedia:African Union.
