Jesus Christ is the chief diety of Christianity. According to most Christians, Jesus Christ is the son of God, was sent to earth by his father, and was crucified in order to save mankind from its sins. In Judaism and Islam, Jesus Crist is not believed to be the son of God, but is recognized as a prophet. Our modern sytem of counting years is based on the time that Jesus is believed to have arrived on Earth, over 2000 years ago. For example, as in the year "1969 AD" the AD stands for "Anno Domini" which is Latin for "In the yeah of our lord." "Our Lord" is referring to Jesus Christ.
