The Iraq War (also known as the Second Gulf War, the Occupation of Iraq,[1] or the War in Iraq) is an ongoing multinational military campaign which began on March 20, 2003 with the 2003 invasion of Iraq. It began as a mission by the United States and her allies to depose Saddam Hussein, dictator of Iraq, and determine if Iraq owned any weapons of mass destruction, but became a mission to mediate between the Sunnis and Shias.
