The Anarchist Federation (AF) is an anarcho-communist organization based in Britain and Ireland. It aims to establish a free and classless society based on equality for all by abolishing all hierarchy, capitalism and all forms of oppression.[1] Anarchist Federation is affiliated with the International of Anarchist Federations.
History
It was founded as the Anarchist Communist Federation in March 1986 by the Anarchist Communist Discussion Group, which had coalesced around two anarcho-communists who had returned from France and began selling the pamphlets of the defunct Libertarian Communist Group , and members of Syndicalist Fight. The group aimed to provide an anarchist interventiontendency into events such as the miners' strike. It changed its name to the Anarchist Federation in the late 1990s, though advocacy of anarcho-communism remains at the centre of its politics.[2]

- Capitalism is a system of exploitation of working class by the ruling class. Threat from capitalism also comes in the form of war and environmental degradation.
- There are race, gender, sexuality, health, ability and age-based discrimination and and exploitation. In this way a section of the working class is being exploited by another section of the working class. This lack of class unity among the working class in the course of class struggle benefits the ruling class.
- Sexism and racism are obstacles in forming an anarcho-communist society. Thus struggle against racism and sexism is a vital aspect of class struggle.
- The Anarchist Federation rejects all national liberation movements. It believes the working class has no country and the national liberation movements divide the international working class.
- The AF opposes trade unionism including the syndicalist unions. It believes labor unions divide the working class (between employed and unemployed, trade and craft, skilled and unskilled) and achieve a fairer form of exploitation through negotiation with capitalists, but do not abolish exploitation.
- The Anarchist Federation opposes religion.
Publications
The Anarchist Federation publishes the magazine Organise! which aims to give an anarchist viewpoint on contemporary issues[3] and the monthly newsletter, resistance written by its members.[4]
