The New Mobilization Committee to End the War in Vietnam was formed in July 1969, when representatives of groups from around the country gathered in Cleveland and agreed to reorganize the National Mobilization Committee to End the War in Vietnam. Some called both committees the Mobe, with the new committee called the New Mobe.

On November 15, 1969, a demonstration took place against the war in Vietnam, that had been organized by the New Mobe. Hundreds of thousands took part in Washington, D.C., and tens of thousands did in San Francisco, California.

In June 1970, the New Mobe split into two factions, one reason being the question over whether the Mobe should be a single-issue organization (ending the war in Vietnam) or a multi-issue organization (racism etc.) The single-issue faction formed the Peace Action Coalition, the multi-issue faction formed the National Coalition Against War, Racism and Repression.
