The Libertarian Workers Group was a New York City based affinity group which was a member of the US Anarchist Communist Federation (ACF). The Libertarian Workers Group (LWG) left the ACF in 1981, as did other affinity groups. The LWG had conferences with these other affinity groups, which were mostly in Toronto, Canada. Out of this came the journal Ideas and Action.

In 1984, the LWG began going on a more anarcho-syndicalist track than the more councilist Canadian groups, so LWG broke off from them and changed its name to the Workers Solidarity Alliance. Ideas and Action became solely the WSA's journal henceforth.
