Edward Paul Abbey (January 29, 1927 - March 14, 1989) was one of the most influential American authors of late twentieth century on issues related to environment.[1] His book Desert Solitaire (1968) and novel The Monkey Wrench Gang (1975) became handbooks of the environmental movement.[2] He was often described as the "desert anarchist".[3]
