Starbucks in East Grand Rapids announce their membership in the IWW Starbucks Workers Union, becoming the first store in Michigan to declare union membership at the world's largest coffee chain. Starbucks, notorious for poor treatment of workers, follows with numerous anti-labor violations & is forced by the NLRB to settle Grand Rapids union worker complaints in October.
