Punk rock
Punk Rock is a form of music that some believe start somewhere in the mid-60's with bands like Velvet Underground and The MC5, to name a few bands, but grew into a popular form of music around the underground scene. The music is typically simple musically and was made popular by bands such as bands like The Ramones and The Sex Pistols. The Sex Pistols, in fact, wrote a song called "Anarchy in the UK" which helped popularise anarchy for many young music listeners from the mid to late 1970's and beyond. The music was largely an expression of unemployed youth in English speaking countries, but it expanded to French countries as well making the music an international movement. The music was typically more nihilistic than anarchistic. Many anarchist youth movement groups and poor musician clubs kept the movement side of this music alive in the 1980's. The music has been thoroughly exploited by main stream media and has caused most punk rocker to Recede into the underground as not to attract the masses which grab at the genre as a more money making movement.
Now-a-days Punk Rock can be found in many countries such as Japan, Russia, China, Finland, Poland, Sweden, and many others. There were many movements in Punk Rock, but the genre still retains to the same attitude it had back when it was started.
Movements may include:
1977: Punk Rock Revolution 1982: UK Invasion 1982-1986: No Wave Movement 1986: Hardcore movement 1994: Commercialization (though this was more upsetting to punk rock than it was rejoiceful)
