Male adult virginity is the one of the taboo subjects of contemporary society. Male adult virgins are sometimes refered to as "maverics".
The reason for differentiating MAV from the state of virginity of females and adolescent males is the difference in social perception of male adult virgins and their psychological conditions. Also adult males who have chosen the lifestyle of celebacy or those who openly admit to a choice to have sex only after marriage are not commonly classed as maverics.
