BeWelcome is a hospitality exchange service that is run by a non-profit organisation.[1] It is one of four "most visited" hospitality exchange sites according to La Nación,[2] and one of the top-10 hospitality travel sites according to The Guardian.[3]

The site was founded in February of 2007[4] by unsatisfied ex volunteers from another hospitality exchange website Hospitality Club.[3][5] As of January 2010, the organisation has approximately 8,000 members from all over the world who offer free accommodation and help during travels.[6] It is the first such service to provide a truly multilingual environment with multilingual profiles. Joining is free and the software behind the site, the BW-rox platform, is free and open-source software.[7]
